William Y. Christie's Community Enrichment Works

William Y. Christie believes that eduction is the key to a happy and successful life. Education is a gift, and it should be used not for personal financial gain, but to enrich the lives of others. He has dedicated years of his life to providing underprivileged youth and youth with disabilities the chance to receive an education. For this dedicated service, he was he was given the “Common Good Award” from Bowdoin College in 1994.

William Y. Christie dedicated years of his life to providing several youth in Jamaica, Barbados, and New England the opportunity to obtain a college education. He acted as a mentor and advisor to these youth, doing his best to ensure their success, giving them the hope and education needed for success. These youth already possessed determination and skill, but lacked the means and opportunity to go to college. William Y. Christie was able to help these students obtain four-year degrees at St. Michael's and Bowdoin Colleges, opening new windows of opportunity in their lives.
